My family and I went to New York City for Fourth of July Weekend. We stayed at the New York Helmsley Hotel. It was so fancy and gorgeous. Our room was a reasonable price too! The hotel is near the UN, so if you ever go to this hotel, you should definitely visit the UN visitor center! Now, onto some picture SPAM. You have been warned.
The cool chandelier in the lobby.
The beautiful mirror in our hotel room.
Hi there! The ceiling was reflective, so I thought that was pretty cool and snapped a picture.
Day 1: We checked into our hotel and then headed out to the UN and then Times Square! I saw lots of captivating photos and read so many amazing stories at the UN visitor center. There were also so many cool/interesting sculptures! After the UN, we went to Times Square. There were SO MANY people! We went into the Hershey's at Times Square and M&M's World. I bought so much candy and so many souvenirs. I *do* love buying gifts for my friends, though.
The UN. The flags weren't up, boo!
A quote I liked in the visitor center.
A cool poster near the UN gift shop!
Times Square!
Hershey's Times Square! Bought lots of candy here. :)
Cute Independence Day display!
Chocolate machine?
Statues of Liberty at M&M's World?
Pillows! I reeeaaaaaally wanted to buy one of these, but I got the round one instead because it was a little cheaper LOL. The frugal Asian in me! (Haul post to come)
The inside of M&M's World.
The Elvis statue. Caught someone else trying to do the pose too, haha.
Day 2: We went to the MET since it was rainy outside. Why not spend the day at a museum on a rainy day? I love museums. I definitely need to go to the Guggenheim and Museum of Modern Art next time. At the MET, I waited for 1.5 hours in line for the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit. (I made my brother wait with me too, LOL.) It was totally worth the wait. Everything was so amazing, beautiful, and breath-taking. Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures inside the exhibit, but memories should last forever, right?
Still so many people on such a rainy day.
A marble bust of Marcus Aurelius.
A fountain in the middle of the Roman/Greek exhibit. There were coins from all over the world!
One of Renoir's most famous paintings: Two Young Girls at the Piano.
That concludes most of the tourist-y pictures I took during my weekend trip to NYC. It was so much fun! I have to say, despite the rude people, dirty streets, hectic/busy sidewalks, and crazy driving, I've really fallen in love with this city. It has so much character. I love NYC!
Haul Post and Food Post to come soon!

Sounds like you had a great time :P
Any food posts coming up? I find that people who come here knows more about where to go than I do LOL
I spent a couple of days in the city for prom and it was one of the more exciting days of my boring life xD Being in the bustling city is pretty different than living in the other boroughs. And you found all the flaws of NYC in just a weekend! Cannot disagree with you there :P I'm guessing MA is very different in those aspects? haha
I just love NYC :) It's very fun there! hehe I am extremely frugal too! You will never see me buying anything useless unless I'm desperate or something =p
I love going to the art museums in NYC. They are breathtaking especially the sculptures and oil paintings :D Great post!!
Oh wow, I would love to visit NYC! My friends went there for AP Art History and I was so jealous because all they talked about when they got back was the sights and the stores. My friends said the exact same thing; even though they despised the gross streets and some of the people, they loved NYC and want to go back. Hopefully I'll get to visit NYC soon :)
i hope to get there one day,as for now, reading from people's experiences online provide satisfaction.
